Meet Chris Le Serve
Council’s new Head of Economic Development, Chris Le Serve has commenced in his role and is looking forward to getting out and meeting with members of the business community over the coming weeks and months.
Chris has an extensive career spanning three decades and has held senior roles in private and public sector in various organisations, including the past six years with Queensland Government.
For the past two years, Chris headed up the investment division at Queensland Treasury, overseeing four core units of investment strategy, attraction, facilitation and partnership, with a focus on driving economic development outcomes by working in partnership with private sector organisations.

Foreshore's fabulous future
Sunshine Coast Council is revitalising the Mooloolaba Foreshore, enhancing public beachfront parkland by 40 per cent and making the beach and foreshore more accessible for all.
This next step of the foreshore’s revitalisation represents a multimillion-dollar investment by Council and the Federal Government which includes a $7.95 million contribution through the Australian Government’s Disaster Ready Fund to replace Mooloolaba’s seawall.

Caloundra’s new heart
Concept drawings and the inspiration behind the transformational town square project have been revealed by Sunshine Coast Council, providing a glimpse into Caloundra’s bright future.
This will be a crucial element of the Caloundra Community + Creative Hub that will create a unique public space that connects The Events Centre, new Library+, proposed new Sunshine Coast Regional Gallery and parks and streets through to picturesque Bulcock Beach.

Brewer Of The Year
Congratulations to Matt Wilson, head Brewer and co-founder of Moffat Beach Brewing Co, for winning the prestigious Beer & Brewer magazine’s Brewer Of The Year award for 2023!
The accolade caps off a remarkable string of awards for the small Sunshine Coast brewery, which is currently the reigning Champion Medium Brewery at both the Royal Queensland Beer Awards and the Independent Brewers Association Awards, as well as the Champion Small Brewery at the Australian International Beer Awards, the largest competition of its type in the world.

Mooloolaba Fisheries widens net
Congratulations to Mooloolaba Fisheries for their new international partnership with Little Farms in Singapore.
Little Farms has four restaurants in Singapore in which Mooloolaba Fisheries products will also be supporting. The new venture is an important partnership for the Sunshine Coast and for Australian Wild Caught Seafood and provides opportunity to grow further into international markets.

10 years of progress
The Sunshine Coast Regional Economic Development Strategy (REDS) 2023 Refresh, which was endorsed in October, summarises 10 years of economic progress in the region.
The refreshed strategy assesses the progress made, considers important developments and provides an updated framework to continue the transformative journey to 2033.

Digital Solutions Action Plan
The Digital Solutions program is continuing to facilitate delivery of free workshops for small businesses to assist them in developing additional skills across digitising their businesses, websites, ecommerce, social media and digital marketing, software for small businesses and cybersecurity.
