Preparing for bushfires
Council is encouraging local businesses to familiarise themselves with understanding bushfires and how to prepare.
Properties are more at risk from bushfires if they are close to bushland, have a bushfire history in the area, greenery is within 20 metres of buildings and structures are built on a slope.
The Queensland Fire Department’s website has a post code checker for confirming a property’s level of risk.
Council's Disaster Hub brings together disaster and hazard related information to help build disaster resilience, raise awareness and protect communities during disaster events.

Japanese exchange
On Friday Council extended a warm welcome to a visiting delegation of students and teachers from Tatebayashi City, Japan and a small party from Izumisano City’s Board of Education.
The students enjoyed a tour of the Chambers and City Hall followed by a morning tea to celebrate and recognise Tatebayashi’s 70th anniversary.
Students were hosted by Palmwoods and Woombye State School families and have experienced plenty of what the Sunshine Coast has to offer.
Council and Tatebayashi City have a long-standing Sister Cities Friendship agreement and reciprocal visits by students have occurred for more than 20 years.
