Mayor’s vision for region

At the post-election meeting of Sunshine Coast Council on Thursday (April 11) Mayor Rosanna Natoli vowed to always put the community first.

Mayor Natoli promised to work with fellow councillors and the region’s state and federal members “to secure the infrastructure the Sunshine Coast so desperately needs.”

Council also determined at the post-election meeting that Councillor Maria Suarez would serve as Deputy Mayor.

Cr Suarez represents Division Nine and gained valuable experience in the previous Council where her areas of interest included Environment, Liveability and Community and Economic Development.

Event’s healthy boost for region

More than 8100 surf sports competitors are set to roll in for the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships (April 13-21).

The event is expected to deliver an economic contribution of almost $15 million to the local economy.

Local business owners, like Glen from Black Bunny Cafe & Bar at Alexandra Headland pictured above, are looking forward to welcoming competitors, family, friends & supporters.

The titles will be held across four beaches – Maroochydore, Alexandra Headland, Mooloolaba and Coolum.

NBL to heat up the coast

The 2024 Mitsubishi Motors NBL1 National Finals will heat up this year when it goes up north to the Sunshine Coast.

The best of the best will converge at the University of Sunshine Coast and Caloundra Indoor Stadium from August 16-18, where the National Champions will be crowned.

The champions from all five conferences, and the reigning champions from last year’s National Finals, the women’s Bendigo Braves and men’s Knox Raiders, will compete on the Sunshine Coast for the biggest prize the NBL1 has to offer.

Sunshine Coast Council is proud to support the event and further strengthen basketball’s profile locally.
