Nambour Place Plan

An overwhelming response supporting Sunshine Coast Council’s draft Nambour (Namba) Place Plan will help guide the region’s historic hub into the future.

The plan will fuse Nambour’s growing reputation as a creative and welcoming place through greener streets, wider pathways, art installations and open spaces.

Eva Air wins marathon naming rights

National sporting events company Atlas Events has entered into an exclusive naming rights partnership with award-winning international airline EVA Air for its flagship south east Queensland marathon events including the Sunshine Coast Marathon.

The strategic partnership, which runs until 2026, includes the Brisbane Marathon Festival and Sunshine Coast Marathon Festival, both of which are on track for another sell-out year.

Four great days of gardening

This year the Queensland Garden Expo will celebrate their 40th Anniversary over four special days, July 4-7.

Transforming the Nambour Showgrounds into a colourful winter wonderland of all things plants and garden, the Queensland Garden Expo showcases the biggest range of plants you are likely to see anywhere in Queensland in one location.

There are still some great sites available for sellers of gardening related products to become involved.

Grants for artists and creatives

A range of exciting opportunities to help strengthen the Sunshine Coast arts sector are available.

The Refinery creative incubator program is calling for EOI for the 10-week intensive program (closes 31 March) and a residency opportunity (closes 24 March).

Community Groups can apply for a $15,000 major grant through Council’s Community Grants Program (closes 11 March).

An EOI is open for FutureNOW LAB, bringing together experienced creative technologists and contemporary artists (closes 12 March).

Be part of a thriving community

Did you know the manufacturing sector has more than 1400 amazing businesses on the Sunshine Coast and it had the largest total exports by industry on the Coast, generating $1.12 billion in 2021/22?

This is largely thanks to not for profit industry group, Manufacturing Excellence Forum, for facilitating, nurturing and advancing our region’s manufacturing ecosystem.

Cheers to preserving history

More than 130 years of pub history continues to flow at Matso’s Eumundi thanks to to a collaborative approach between Sunshine Coast Council, Matso’s and architects Five Mile Radius.

The opening of Matso's Sunshine Coast Brewery (formerly Joe's Waterhole) is the latest chapter in the long history of the hotel, which was originally opened by E.H. Arundell as the Railway Hotel in 1891.

Sunshine Coast Council's Economic Development branch also provided a range of investment service support throughout the project.

Energy Efficiency Grants for SMEs

The Australian Government's Energy Efficiency Grants for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises Round 2 is open from 29 February.


The grant provides eligible small and medium businesses up to $25,000 to purchase energy efficient equipment to reduce and manage energy usage and costs.

Industry partners are now invited to put forward event concepts for the 10-day food and drink festival to be held from July 26 to August 4.

Clean up Australia Day

You are invited to step up and join a local group to help clean up our beautiful Sunshine Coast on Sunday March 3.

This year several groups will be running clean-ups including Currimundi Catchment Care Group, Eumundi Rotary, Kawana Scouts, Night Eyes Water & Landcare, Twin Waters Residents Association and many more.
