This award recognises Nicole's outstanding leadership in strengthening regional food and agribusiness industries.
Under Nicole’s leadership, FAN continues to drive innovation, sustainability and resilience in the agrifood sector.
Heidi Walker of Walker Seafoods Australia was the first female recipient of the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Sustainable Fishing Hero Award!
This prestigious award honours individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership, courage and commitment to sustainable fishing practices.
Heidi's dedication to sustainable tuna fishing and her innovative collaboration with renowned chef Neil Perry have set a new standard in the industry.

Transport gold: 100-day review outcome
|
The Queensland Government has today announced funding for a new integrated Athlete Village, arena and cultural precinct in the Maroochydore City Centre and a new public transport solution, ‘The Wave’, from Beerwah to the Sunshine Coast Airport.
Sunshine Coast Mayor Rosanna Natoli said she was incredibly grateful for the announcement of two new region-shaping projects for the community.
“This much-anticipated announcement, along with the confirmation of the Sunshine Coast Stadium expansion and the progress of the Sunshine Coast Mountain Bike Centre, represents a significant milestone and marks the delivery of great benefits for our community,” Mayor Natoli said.

Mooloolaba seafood celebration
|
The Curated Plate, Queensland’s premier food and drink festival, is launching its largest celebration of seafood yet!
From July 25-27, 2025, the Sunshine Coast will come alive with a series of seafood-themed events.
The series includes an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the Mooloolaba trawlers with The Curated Plate Culinary Director and renowned chef Peter Kuruvita.
This year’s Seafood Series is a collaboration between Trade and Investment Queensland, Sunshine Coast Council, the Department of Primary Industries (Queensland) and local businesses.

Nominations for the 2025 Sunshine Coast Music Awards (SCMAs) have been extended until April 11l!
This gives every artist, venue, producer and music industry pro the chance to be recognised.
PLUS… The Rising Star of the Year will land a performance spot at Big Pineapple Festival on October 25.
Nominations must come from the nominee themselves or their manager, publicist or agent. If you want to see your favourite artist win, encourage them to nominate!

Small business tourism operators urged to get tech-savvy
|
The Crisafulli Government is backing Queensland’s small tourism businesses to lift their tech game with a rebate of up to $2,500.
The Tourism Business Digital Adaption Program has $3 million in rebates available for micro, small and medium-sized tourism businesses to help them stay tech-savvy and ready to attract more tourists.
The program is made up of three components: free online webinars and resources, a Digital Champions network, and a rebate to implement new digital products.

If a small business has experienced a scam or cyber incident and needs help, they can access IDCARE's specialised Case Managers who will provide expert tailored advice and support.

Season of the Dev Game Jam
|
Season of the Dev's intensive three-day Game Jam event was held over the weekend for developers to fully immerse themselves in digital games development
and unleash their creativity.
Working in teams or independently alongside fellow developers,
participants had 48 hours to rapidly build a game from scratch. They were supported by
industry mentors, mental health first aid support and a host of industry influencers and
experts.
The winner will be announced at Season of the Dev's End of Fest celebration on May 9.
