How our seafood is soaring to new heights
From succulent prawns to premium spanner crabs, the Sunshine Coast is making waves in the international seafood market!

As part of a pilot trade mission led by Sunshine Coast Council and Trade and Investment Queensland, four premium local exporters - Walkers Seafood, Fraser Isle Spanner Crab, Silver Sea Seafood and San Antone Food Group - took their passion and products to Singapore.

The trade mission highlighted the exceptional quality of local seafood and shined a spotlight on the industry’s commitment to innovation, sustainability and delivering first-class products.

A huge shoutout to our seafood stars and the fishers and small businesses behind them for your amazing work putting Sunshine Coast seafood on the culinary map!

Hot rods, horse racing and homegrown on Show
Two big events will roll and ride into Caloundra and Maleny over the last weekend in May.

May 30 is scheduled as the official Show Day for Caloundra and surrounding areas, and families are expected to flock to The Maleny Show for side show alley and showbags, whilst others will frock up trackside at the Ladies Day Oaks at Sunshine Coast Turf Club.

Meanwhile more than 650 classic and custom cars with roll into the heart of Caloundra for Downunder Beachfest from May 28 to June 1. Downunder Beachfest has become an annual spectacle in Caloundra that celebrates hot rod, custom and classic motor vehicles and the rock n roll lifestyle.

Buy Local Day
Ready, set, GO! Sunshine Coast Council and community partners have launched the 2025 Buy Local Day campaign.

Businesses have just seven weeks to prepare and plan leading up to Buy Local Day on Saturday 28 June.

Of course every day is a great day to buy local, however Buy Local Day is an opportunity for Sunshine Coast businesses to connect with the community and promote the importance of buying local.

Sunshine Coast Music Awards finalists
Big congratulations to all of the finalists for the first-ever Sunshine Coast Music Awards!

To be held on June 1 at The Station, Birtinya, the event will showcase the incredible depth of our region’s diverse musical talent and shine a spotlight on our best and brightest crop of musicians, and the industry as a whole. 

The awards are made possible by the Sunshine Coast Music Industry Collective with support of its partners including Council.

Business support for Mooloolaba Foreshore Revitalisation
With the contract now awarded, we’re reaching out to keep businesses informed and supported ahead of works starting on revitalising Mooloolaba’s foreshore from mid-July.

Did you know you can now park for 4-hours free at the PARKnGO Mooloolaba Central.

There's 700 parking spaces, 54 motorcycle spaces and 50 bicycle spaces in the heart of Mooloolaba on the corner of Smith Street and First Avenue.

This initiative is part of the Mooloolaba Business Activation Plan – developed as a collaboration between the Mooloolaba businesses community and Council to drive activation, consumer expenditure and business support throughout Stage 2 of the Moooloolaba Foreshore Revitalisation Project.

Junior Rugby Championships
Australia's next generation of rugby stars will light up Queensland's south-east as part of a historic new tournament backed by Rugby Australia (Play Rugby) and Australian Schools Rugby Union.

Around 50 junior representatives sides from across every state and territory will converge on the Sunshine Coast for the inaugural Australian Schools and Juniors Rugby Union (ASJRU) Championships in July.

Hosted at Sunshine Coast Stadium and Kawana Sports Precinct, the 2025 ASJRU Championships will attract the nation's top talent for a week of elite junior competition. The XVs tournament will run from July 7-10 with the 7s tournament held July 11-13.
