Golden Beach foreshore works:

TS Onslow seawall update

We’re building a stronger, smarter coastline at Golden Beach, and we’re on track to wrap up Stage 1 of the new seawall – from Nelson Street to the TS Onslow Naval Cadets site – just in time for Christmas.

This means better protection, improved access with a new boat ramp, beach access ramps, and stairs, and more to enjoy with upgraded parkland, picnic spots, and a coastal path for everyone!

In short

  • Stage 1 (seawall south) finished by Christmas.
  • Construction pause: 19 December 2025 – 5 January 2026.
  • Stages 2 and 3 (northern seawall, bleachers, landscaping) finished by end of February 2026 – weather permitting.

Stage 1 – seawall south (by Christmas)

  • 140–metre seawall section: built with rock and pre-cast concrete for future adaptability.
  • Boat ramp and hardstand: ready for the navy cadets and community use over the holidays.
  • Parkland upgrade: raised levels for better drainage. Please keep off new turf (we'll have it flagged) for six weeks while it settles.

Stages 2 and 3 – coming early 2026

Stage 2 (completed by end of January)
  • Northern seawall with sandstone-coloured bleachers, a 4–metre beach access ramp, and new stairs. Perfect for gatherings and easy beach access.
Stage 3 (completed by end of February)
  • Coastal path, two new picnic benches, water fountain, stormwater upgrades, and a new rock groyne.
(Timeline depends on weather and site conditions.)

Construction pause for the holidays

  • 19 December 2025 – 5 January 2026: Works stop so you can enjoy the foreshore.
  • Safety exclusion zones remain in place with signed detours.
  • Coastal pathway and beach access north from Beach Access 319a (near Chill Café 89) and south from TS Onslow remain open.
  • Esplanade stays one-way between Chill Café 89 and Onslow Street, with parking restrictions in place.
