Maple Street Streetscape, Maleny

Construction Notification

Hello Maleny community,

Thanks for subscribing to receive project updates as we work to refresh Maple Street.

Construction is set to start next week, and here’s what you can expect over the coming weeks.

This is about making the street safer, greener and easier to get around – while keeping Maleny’s relaxed, country‑town feel. Local businesses will stay open, and we’ll keep you updated every step of the way.

For the latest news, artist impressions and FAQs, visit the project webpage and encourage others who may be interested to subscribe for construction updates and key milestones.

In short

  • Construction starts week commencing Monday 29 June 2026 (weather permitting).
  • Work hours are generally 6am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Early works focus on new and upgraded pedestrian crossings near the IGA, Fig Street and Myrtle Street.
  • Maple Street remains open for pedestrians, vehicles and businesses.
  • Some temporary changes to parking, traffic and footpaths will be in place.
  • This stage of work is expected to continue through August 2026.

What's happening now

We’re starting construction next week on the Maple Street upgrade, with local contractor Disc Landscapes on site delivering the works.

Work will happen in stages to reduce disruption.

June and July
  • Upgrading the raised crossing near the IGA
  • Building a new crossing near Fig Street
  • Starting works toward the new crossing near Myrtle Street
July and August
  • Build new crossing near Myrtle Street
  • Install stormwater infrastructure
  • Construct new footpaths

What to expect

You’ll start to see workers, vehicles and equipment on site as works begin.
To keep everyone safe while construction is underway:
  • traffic control, signage and temporary speed limits will be in place
  • some on-street parking may be temporarily unavailable
  • footpath diversions will guide pedestrians safely around work areas
  • there may be short delays for vehicles at times.
If footpath works affect your driveway access, our contractor will contact you in advance.

Importantly, you can still:
  • walk along Maple Street (temporary paths will guide you)
  • drive through the area
  • access local shops and businesses as usual.
We encourage everyone to continue supporting local businesses during construction.

How the work will be staged

Work will happen in stages to reduce disruption as much as possible.

Once Zone 1 is complete, work will move to Zone 2 at the western end of Maple Street.

Traffic control will be in place.

After crossings are finished, crews will move into:
  • stormwater upgrades
  • new and improved footpaths.

Working hours and impacts

Construction will generally take place between 6am and 6pm, with night works not expected at this stage.

As with any construction project, there may be:
  • some noise and vibration
  • occasional dust.
We’ll work to minimise these impacts wherever possible. Noisy works will generally be limited to 7am-11am.

Looking ahead

This stage of works is expected to continue through to August 2026, with a further update planned in late July to keep you informed on progress.

We’ll continue to provide regular updates as the project progresses.

Thanks for your patience while we deliver these improvements for our community.
