|
Hello Maleny community,
We're providing an update on the construction timing and staging for the Maple Street Streetscape Upgrade.
This is about making the street safer, greener and easier to get around – while keeping Maleny’s relaxed, country‑town feel. Local businesses will stay open, and we’ll keep you updated every step of the way.

|
In short
|
- Construction has started.
- Maple Street remains open for pedestrians, vehicles and businesses.
- Some temporary changes to parking, traffic and footpaths are in place.
- Following finalisation of project approvals and construction planning, the works program has been revised to reflect approval requirements and the most effective construction approach.
- A key benefit of the revised program is that it has been planned to minimise impacts on local businesses, visitors and the broader community during the busy Christmas and summer holiday period.
- Work hours are generally 6am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

Revised construction staging
|
To deliver the project as efficiently as possible, the contractor has updated the construction sequence.
The project will now focus on completing all pedestrian crossings first, in the following order:
- Crossing 4 near the IGA (Area 1)
- Crossing 1 near Fig Street (Area1)
- Crossing 2 near Myrtle Street (Area 2)
- Crossing 3 near the chemist (Area 2)
Once the crossings are complete, crews will return to the eastern end of Maple Street (Zone 1) to deliver footpaths, landscaping, street furniture and verge improvements. These works are expected to be completed by late November, weather permitting.
The team will then move to the western end of Maple Street (Zone 2), where footpaths, landscaping, street furniture and verge works are scheduled from December through to February.
Final project finishing works across both zones are expected to be completed by late-February 2027.

Designed to reduce impacts during the holiday season
|
The revised program has been planned to minimise impacts during the busy Christmas and summer holiday period.
By completing major works in the eastern section of Maple Street before Christmas and carefully staging remaining works, the project team can maintain better access to businesses and reduce construction activity in the town centre during one of Maleny's busiest times of the year.
The revised program is also expected to support seasonal activities by reducing construction-related impacts in the heart of town.

What to expect
|
You’ll see workers, vehicles and equipment on site. Please be respectful towards them.
To keep everyone safe while construction is underway:
- traffic control, signage and temporary speed limits will be in place
- some on-street parking may be temporarily unavailable
- loading zones, taxi ranks and PWD bays may be temporarily unavailable, or temporarily relocated
- footpath diversions will guide pedestrians safely around work areas
- there may be short delays for vehicles at times
- use alternative footpaths and crossings as signposted
- follow the directions of the traffic controllers, and stay out of marked construction zones
- please do not move bollards or signage.
If footpath works affect your driveway access, our contractor will contact you in advance.
Importantly, you can still:
- walk along Maple Street (temporary paths will guide you)
- drive through the area
- access local shops and businesses as usual.
We encourage everyone to continue supporting local businesses during construction.

|
Working hours and impacts
|
Construction will generally take place between 6am and 6pm, with night works not expected at this stage.
As with any construction project, there may be:
- some noise and vibration
- occasional dust.
We’ll work to minimise these impacts wherever possible. Noisy works will generally be limited to 7am-11am.

|
Thank you
|
