Moffat Beach seawall reconstruction update

Dear Moffat Beach community,
Thanks for subscribing to receive updates about local Moffat Beach projects, including the seawall reconstruction.

In short:

  • Carparks near the site will be closed this Friday morning (4–9.30am) for sealing works.
  • Construction will pause from 19 December to 5 January so everyone can enjoy Moffat Beach over the holidays.
  • Stage One is on track to finish before Christmas.
  • Moffat Beach is still open for business – continue to support our local cafes and shops!

Temporary carpark closure – Friday 5 December

To complete sealing works this Friday morning 5 December 2025, the carparks adjacent to the site (shown in the image below) will be unavailable from 4am to 9.30am.

This allows space for additional machinery needed for the job.

Carparks will reopen as soon as the sealing is complete and the contractor has left – expected before 9.30am.

Christmas construction pause

We want everyone to enjoy the beauty of Moffat Beach and support local cafés and shops during the festive season.

That’s why we’re pausing construction from 19 December 2025 to 5 January 2026.

The beach in front of the central and eastern seawalls and the Queen of Colonies car park will remain open during this time.

The large rock stockpile area on the western beach near the cottonwood trees has been reinstated as public beach space – ready for locals and visitors to enjoy leading into Christmas.

We’ll keep you updated as works resume in January.

Saturday works and timeline

Intermittent Saturday works have been successful and will continue, but only during low tides for safety and efficiency.

We’re on track to complete Stage One before Christmas, giving our community improved access to this stunning stretch of coastline just in time for the holidays.

Current schedule:
  • Monday to Friday: 6am – 6pm (weather and tide permitting)
  • Saturday (intermittent): 7am – 3pm (low tide only)
  • Sunday: No construction works.
We appreciate your ongoing support and feedback as we work to minimise disruption while keeping things moving. The seawall construction team remains committed to finding smart solutions that reduce impacts and keep the project on track.
Moffat Beach Seawall staging plan: pre-Christmas 2025

Moffat Beach is still open for business!

Despite the construction activity, Moffat Beach is as lively as ever. Locals and visitors are still grabbing coffees, browsing shops, and catching up at their favourite cafés.

There’s plenty of space to picnic, soak up the view, go for a walk or run, or check the surf. You might even discover a new favourite spot in the park while things shift around.

Parking may be tight, so why not jump on your bike or take the bus? With 50-cent fares, getting to the beach and supporting local businesses has never been easier.

We know the works bring some disruption, and we appreciate your patience. The improvements will be worth it – and in the meantime, Moffat Beach is still serving up sunshine, salt air, and good vibes.
