Golden Beach foreshore works: TS Onslow

Thanks for subscribing to receive updates on the action we're taking at Golden Beach to protect our coastline and coastal communities from the impacts of a changing climate.

Works are progressing well as we partner with the Queensland Government to construct a new seawall to protect the foreshore from Nelson Street to the TS Onslow Naval Cadets site in southern Golden Beach.

In short

  • A large excavator will be removed from site early in the morning of Wednesday 19 November, between 4am and 6am.
  • Temporary traffic holds will be in place for safety. Thank you for your understanding.

Early morning equipment removal

Works are progressing well and the large 38-tonne excavator is no longer needed on site.

To remove this machine safely, an oversize vehicle will transport it off-site on Wednesday 19 November.

Because of its size and strict road regulations, the load-out must occur during the early morning window of 4–4.30am.

The process should take no longer than 90 minutes, finishing by 5.30–6am.

Traffic impacts

  • The southern end of The Esplanade and the eastern end of Onslow Street will be under traffic management during this time: 4-6am, Wednesday 19 November 2025.
  • Traffic controllers will implement short, temporary holds to ensure the move is carried out safely.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. These times are the only option under road regulations for transporting equipment of this size.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we prioritise the safety of workers, the community and all road users.
