Golden Beach foreshore works: TS Onslow

Thanks for subscribing to receive updates on the action we're taking at Golden Beach – including temporary works – to protect our coastline and coastal communities from the impacts of climate change.

Works are progressing well as we partner with the Queensland Government to construct a new seawall to protect the foreshore from Nelson Street to the TS Onslow Naval Cadets site in southern Golden Beach.

In short

  • Esplanade, Golden Beach will change to one-way from Monday 21 July 2025.
  • Oversize vehicles delivering large piling rig and crane on Tuesday 22 July and Wednesday 23 July 2025.
  • Please do not park your car on the Esplanade on these days between 4am and 7am.

Changes to traffic

The Esplanade is being changed to one-way from Monday 21 July 2025 to safely manage access for vehicles and pedestrians (from Chill Café 89 to Onslow Street).

This change will be in place until the end of the foreshore project, which is scheduled for completion by December 2025, weather permitting.

There will be some changed traffic conditions and signs which will be set up and stay permanent until the end of the project.

Your safety and our worker safety are of the utmost importance. Please follow safety signage and avoid the construction zones to keep everyone safe.

Early morning equipment delivery

The project requires a large piling rig and crane to be onsite for structural concrete works.

These pieces of equipment will be delivered early to site by an “Oversize” vehicle next Tuesday 22 July and Wednesday 23 July.

The trailer (see example below) is approximately 16 metres long with the prime mover being 6 metres - so the overall length of this transport vehicle is 22 metres.

Please do not park your car on the Esplanade on Tuesday or Wednesday

There will be some noise disruption between 4am and 6am on the morning of these days as the team offloads the machines.

We apologise in advance for any inconvenience, however due to road regulations these are the only times which allow for delivery of this type of equipment.

Please do not park your car on the road on Tuesday 22 July or Wednesday 23 July between 4am and 7am.

We will provide updates prior to the equipment being removed from site, which will also need to be early morning.

Thank you for your understanding as we ensure the safety of our workers, our community and road users.
