Maple Street Streetscape, Maleny

Construction Notification

Hello Maleny community,

Thanks for subscribing to receive project updates as we prepare to refresh Maple Street, with works starting later this month.

As part of early works for the project, we'll be on site next week to map the exact location of underground services to ensure future safe and efficient construction.

This is about making the street safer, greener and easier to get around – while keeping Maleny’s relaxed, country‑town feel. Local businesses will stay open, and we’ll keep you updated every step of the way.

For the latest news, artist impressions and FAQs, visit the project webpage and encourage others who may be interested to subscribe for construction updates and key milestones.

General locations of underground services investigation works (locations 1 and 2)

About these works

Next week (weather permitting), contractors will be on site with specialist equipment undertaking ‘potholing’ works to locate underground services.

This involves cutting small sections of the footpath and road, and digging a few small, precise test holes to safely expose underground utilities (like water mains or electrical lines) before other construction or digging begins.

The test holes will be no bigger than 300mm in diameter and will be backfilled and levelled on completion of the investigation.

To minimise inconvenience to our community, including Maple Street businesses, we’ll complete these works at night.

Vehicle and pedestrian access will remain available along Maple Street, outside of the works areas.

What to expect

  • Sections of the footpath and road will be cut with a concrete saw before potholing begins.
  • To minimise inconvenience to our community all concrete sawing will happen earlier in the evening, between approximately 8pm and 10pm. Intermittent noise can be expected.
  • From 10pm to approximately 1am, specialist machinery and vehicles (including boring equipment and vacuum trucks) will be in use. Intermittent low-level noise is expected during this time. All noise will be within permissible noise limits under the Environmental Protection Act.
  • No service outages are expected.

Temporary changes to traffic conditions

  • Traffic access will remain available along Maple Street with temporary closures of small sections of the footpath while potholing is underway.
  • Detour signage will be in place to keep pedestrians safe.
  • Contractor vehicles and machinery will temporarily use some sections on-street parking areas.
We thank our community for your patience as we undertake these important service investigations.
